NOVEMBER 03, 2017

Team EMEA/SPI,

Another solid performance in October it would seem. In EMEA an order pace second only to last year (when we’d just launched a bunch of new product) and a month end sales figure that surpassed forecast would suggest that the momentum is still with us despite a strong PING launch. Epic continues to track miles ahead of all our latest sales estimates and is, remarkably for November, temporarily back ordered in certain SKU’s. These will be recovered over the coming weeks but I don’t ever recall a product being so much in demand this late in the season.

Early feedback from pre-books is encouraging. I’ve personally spoken with 7 x ASM’s across Europe and they have all reported similar trends. There is no doubt we will have increased competition next year but I believe we are incredibly well placed to be able to counter all that is thrown at us. Matt also reports good early responses as they head in to their peak season.

I’m in Carlsbad again next week presenting our ’18 budget to the Board of Directors. Hopefully the ’17 numbers I’ll be speaking to will give them confidence in our proposals for next year. As a consequence of my travels, Seven Days will take another short break but hopefully I’ll come back with the approval required to initiate detailed local planning/budget implementation over the next few weeks.

I very much appreciate all that everyone is doing at this busy time of year.

Best regards.

Neil.

Other Activity and news This Week

The Final Series begins…

With the final WGC event of the season completed, the European Tour heads to Turkey for the final three Rolex Series events that will conclude in Dubai in just over a fortnight’s time. A number of high-profile players skipped last year’s trip to Turkey, due to the unrest in the region, but with things a little more settled now the upper echelons of the Race To Dubai are there to fight for their positions and the lucrative prize pots on offer (£17m is up for grabs in these last three tournaments). The Top 60 in the race, remember, after next week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge, will compete at the DP World Championship in Dubai to decide the winner.

In Turkey Callaway’s Nicolas Colsaerts leads the tournament after the 2nd round on -14, Kiradech Aphibarnrat is 3rd on -9 and Thomas Pieters is in 9th at -6.

Odyssey leads the putter count in Turkey at 38.5% (we’ve officially lost count as to how many weeks in a row this is now, but it’s a lot), off the back of multiple wins across various Tours last weekend.

Over on the PGA Tour it’s the week of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, a tournament which Callaway Staffer Jim Furyk has won twice.

Callaway Halloween Events:

A big thanks to everyone who took part in our charity Halloween event both at the SuperHub and HQ. Brilliant efforts by so many of you which made the day even more spookylicious!

We raised a total of £331 for the Momentum Charity, which is fantastic!! Congratulations to all the winners, including James Gardener and Faye Cross below who won best costume.

Social Media Update:

September Social Media Highlights

Our social media report for the month of September has come through, with highlights being that Callaway EU took the largest Share of Voice for the 6th month in a row, and that the #Jailbreak campaign passed the ‘2 Million Reached’ milestone, helped by the Alex Noren Swedish Jailbreak.

#SpookySoft Competition a great success

Thanks again to everyone who took part internally for the #SpookySoft Competition, and who helped spread the word. We had some fantastic entries from all over the world, and the giant boxes of SuperSoft Balls are shipping today.

#Jailbreak at The Home of Golf

We ran a #Jailbreak this week to win a 4-Ball up at The Castle Course. It has proven to be one of our most successful Jailbreaks, with nearly 700 fans entering, just going to show that even as Winter starts to show her frigid teeth, the lure of St Andrews never fails to entice the most avid golfer.

CGSP Update:

Fitting Day at Longyard GC, new tent, table cloth and consistent merchandising set up. It’s no wonder we are seeing great conversion rates at our fitting days.

Our premium Toulon stands have hit trade and are already proving to be a great success!
