His New Putter

This week at the U.S. Open, Xander Schauffele is using a new Odyssey Stroke Lab Tuttle Putter (you can find images of the putter attached and in the link here). He switched from his Stroke Lab R-Ball gamer and played his first tournament round with the Stroke Lab Tuttle on Thursday at Pebble Beach, where he shot a 5-under 66, and he’s currently 4th in the field in Strokes Gained Putting.

Xander has been using a Stroke Lab shaft in his putter since the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in March, and he likes how the innovative multi-material shaft has helped to improve the tempo and consistency in his stroke. He tested the Tuttle head extensively this week and he likes how the three lines are designed all the way from the front to the back of the putterhead to help frame the ball for the proper setup and better alignment. His new putter is 34 3/8” long with a Superstroke Traxion grip.

Odyssey continues to be the #1 Putter across the major worldwide Tours this year and the #1 Putter in major worldwide wins in 2019, it’s the #1 Putter this week at the U.S. Open, and it’s been the #1 Putter at every major across the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours this year.

His Driver

Xander won the very first week he put his Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver in play at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January. Xander has said that it only took a few swings in testing for him to be impressed by the driver, particularly by the increased ball speeds he’s seen both in Trackman testing and on the course.

Epic Flash Drivers feature our new Flash Face Technology, which we created using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning – a field of computer science that uses statistical techniques to give computer systems the ability to “learn” with data without being explicitly programmed – to promote faster ball speeds for more distance.

Perhaps more importantly, this design might have never been arrived at without AI; the design defies convention. The Flash Face’s unique, internal mapping consists of dozens of subtle ripples flowing from heel to toe. These ripples work together cohesively to elevate COR in the face’s center region. That accomplishment results in a significant ball speed boost for a noticeable distance increase when you make solid contact, helping make your longest drives go even longer.

Epic Flash Drivers have the most wins of any driver model across the major worldwide Tours this year as well. The success of Epic Flash has also helped Callaway become the #1 Driver brand across the major worldwide Tours this year.

His Irons

Schauffele is playing a prototype of the Apex Pro 19 Irons, and he used them throughout the end of last season and during his WGC win during the fall series, and they were in his bag for his win at Kapalua in January. Xander has said that the weighting through the turf feels great for him, regardless of the course conditions. He also likes the thin topline and the leading edge on the iron, and he’s very comfortable with the distance consistency, the window of the ball flight, and how he can shape shots.
