– Flying Finn Kalle Samooja uses Callaway and Odyssey equipment to shoot final round course record to secure Porsche European Open victory in Germany –
(Chessington, UK – June 5, 2022) Staff Professional, Kalle Samooja, sped over the finish line at the 2022 Porsche European Open to win his maiden DP World Tour title, helped by a host of Callaway and Odyssey equipment.
Starting the final round seven shots back, the 34-year-old from Finland, put on an outstanding display of ball striking and pressure putting, carding eight birdies, including three in the last four holes, to set a new course record, and win by two.
His flawless 64 at Green Eagle Golf Courses, Hamburg, was three shots better than any other round played over the week, with his -6 winning total earning him a cool €297,500, and booking Kalle a slot at this month’s US Open.
The Finn’s victory continues Callaway’s winning streak at this particular event. Last year, Staff Professional Marcus Armitage, also claimed his maiden DP World Tour title.
This year’s tournament was another stellar week for #TeamCallaway. It dominated the Driver count, with 59 in play, including 41 Rogue ST models. Odyssey, the #1 Putter on Golf, was also #1 in Germany, with 55% of Tour players using an Odyssey Putter (86 models in play).
Immediately after his victory, an emotional Kalle commented: “It is truly special. It has been a long journey. I’ve been close a few times. My Callaway Irons have been working so well all week, all year pretty much, but this week it all really paid off.
“Getting that ticket to the US Open, and also securing a win, is unreal.”
Kalle’s winning bag included a Rogue ST Fairway Wood, a pair of JAWS Mack Daddy 5 Wedges, and an Odyssey Toulon Daytona Beach Putter.
