Staffer Pablo Larrazábal stages courageous comeback to take Alfred Dunhill Championship title

(Chessington, UK – December 2, 2019) Callaway Staffer, Pablo Larrazábal, battled through the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa to take an epic European Tour victory at Leopard Creek Country Club.

Using a full bag of Callaway and Odyssey equipment, the Spaniard used every ounce of courage and determination to win his fifth European Tour title, after waking-up on the morning of the final round and finding it difficult to walk!

Foot pain caused the 36-year-old to drop six shots on the front nine, but his inner-strength at the turn saw him make four birdies on his way home, winning by a single shot to claim one of the hardest-fought (and painful!) victories of his career.

“I put heart into that back nine. To be winner again means so much. I have been working really hard and I want to thank Callaway – it is my ninth year with them and they are the best company on Tour – and my wife and my family,” added the Callaway Apparel Ambassador, who was rewarded with a €237,750 winner’s cheque.

Pablo is the latest player to win using an Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver, which is led by Callaway’s innovative Flash Face Technology. Flash Face was created using Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to create outstanding ball speed across the face.

Epic Flash Drivers have accumulated over 40 worldwide wins this year, and they have helped Callaway become the #1 Driver model across the major worldwide Tours in 2019. Callaway was also the #1 Driver brand at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Neil Howie, President and Managing Director of Callaway EMEA, said: “Winning on the European Tour is hard enough, but Pablo showed super-human effort to focus on getting the job done in South Africa. To shoot three birdies in the last four holes of a final round – without pain – is incredible, but for Pablo to manage it in these circumstances was truly amazing.’

Pablo’s equipment included the Chrome Soft X Triple Track Golf Ball featuring Triple Track Technology that uses Vernier Hyper Acuity with three prominent lines on the ball. Triple Track is designed to improve alignment on putting, and it continues to gain popularity with the world’s best players.

His Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas Mallet Putter includes alignment wings, deep cross-hatch grooves engineered across the face, and a Charcoal Smoke Finish. Odyssey continues to be the #1 Putter on every major Tour in 2019, and is #1 by far with over 80 worldwide putter wins this year.
